Front bumper cover removal

Hi all, I’m actually a member in the 1948-52 Truck forum but my daily driver needs some love also!! An unfortunate self inflicted ‘bump’ means i need to replace the upper and lower front bumper covers on my 2017 Connect Titanium. Anyone have a link or description of the bumper removal sequence and a good source of replacement parts? I’ve done similar jobs on my Jeep GC so I’mm ok delving in but a bit of guidance would be appreciated. No photos to post, still hurts too look at it

Thanks, John

John;

I see that no one has responded. You may be a first scout on this particular procedure. I'm guessing that you will have to go through a dealer for the parts. If so, it may be the case that the parts department folks can help out relative to the process involved. If nothing else, a parts manual might give you a clear idea of what you'll face in the surgery. You might also be able to find the parts in a junk yard. In any event, I will be interested in how you work this out. Good luck.

As an aside, I recently finished up a 10 year restoration of a 53 Ford pickup. One day a tourist from Norway happened to see the truck, fell in love and ended up buying it. Like Ford in general, the truck is a world traveler.

John,

Curious to see if you ever figured out how to remove the bumper? I am very interested. There is a bracket behind the grill that I would like to mount something to.

Let me know what you found out? I assume it is a pretty involved process.

I managed to get the bumper off and back on but not straight forward. I need to do it again to figure out why the lower bumper cover is not seating correctly on the clips. I’ll take some photos this time and post them. Probably this weekend.

Just from being under my own Transit Connect to do oil changes, it looks like the only thing holding the van together is a handful of pop rivets. It appears that if you raise the vehicle, remove the front wheels, remove the lower skid plate like you're performing an oil change, then the bumper and wheel wells will come off next, all by way of removing plastic pop rivets.
