06 3.0 Escape Stalling
Hey there, I've got a friend with an 06 Escape thats having an issue.... Coming from the super duty world, I don't know much about these little cars.
The issue is that just after she starts the car and goes to drive it (like leaving a parking lot) the motor will die. She has to put it in park and restart it, and then it seems to run fine. Will occasionally stall later on, but not near as much. Guess it started out by just the IC dying going down the road and then coming back a couple seconds later, but now its progressed to this. My first instinct was to think either a charging or battery issue, so I had her go get the battery and alternator tested. Both come back good. Terminals are good and tight and she's getting full voltage to the computer (Checked via forscan) I pulled codes with Forscan and found one battery voltage low code, and one fuel rail pressure sensor code. Apparently the rail pressure code has been there long before this issue, but is it possible that this is the issue? If it were my vehicle, that sensor would be swapped already, but its not.... Any ideas? I need to get her back over to run a self test through forscan as well.

The problem could be the IAC valve, especially if the stalling occurs when stopping or moving off from a stop.
A simple thing to try is to clean it with carb cleaner spray. If that helps, that would be a temporary fix, so replace it with a genuine Motorcraft part.
Aftermarket IACs are known to be bad straight out of the box. The motorcraft IAC for my 2.0L was made in Japan.

That sounds just coincidental unless the radio has a hash of bad mis-wiring associated with it behind the unit. If you seriously suspect that to be the case then get it investigated ASAP as its possibly a fire hazard.
No way a correctly wired radio should cause the engine to cut out.
Check the battery connections and earth/ground cables between the engine and chassis.
