I bjorked up my blue spring upgrade =P
Long time, no see, all. Time flies when I get busy. I hope everybody is doing well.
My 6.0 Ex was down for about 5 weeks with a stuck caliper and it took me that long to get around to swapping over my powerstops from the broken v10. All was fine and dandy until I decided to try to do the blue spring yesterday.
I was doing the blue spring update on my 6.0 and guess what? If you guessed that all four of the threads inside the housing are utterly and almost completely stripped and destroyed, you are correct! I can't even get one of the 4 screws to tighten up enough to prevent a major fuel leak, so I'm dead in the driveway again lol.
I was going to re-tap or drill out to 6mm, or helicoil it, but looking closer, the most stripped-one of 4 threads is also cracked and I'm worried that compromises the entire housing's ability to tighten securely and prevent a leak 5 miles down the road.
Anybody know the PN for the fuel/oil filter housing or am I going to need to call a dealer or start crawling pick-'n-pulls?? I can't find anything official on the internet, just a few for sale on eBay that I'm not sure about.
I'm pulling the housing off to have a friend look at it that is very handy with metalwork and fixing mistakes, so it will be interesting to see if he thinks this is salvageable or toast.
Ideas welcome =)
