It's good that you got the pipes and a bit of advice for anyone going with the efi manifolds, those flanges are hard to find by themselves. I did efi manifolds a few years back and just took the truck to my small town muffler shop, they couldn't find the flanges nor could any of the 3 local parts stores. I had one and had to make the other one from a 5.8 flange.

Yeah, I made sure to get enough of the intermediate pipes coming off the manifolds so that the rest of the new exhaust system could be run off of them, since I figured it may be a problem at the muffler shop without them.

My buddy just texted me to say the machine shop called and said the block and head were ready to pick up. He's going to go get it for me and take them back to his shop so we can get started on it this evening when I get off from work.

Good news. I bet that bad boy will be running by the time I jump back in the Kingdom Monday morning.

Don't know if it'll be that soon but it's being worked on. I spent this evening chasing all the threads and washing the inside and outside of the block to get the machining oil and grit out of it before priming and painting the block and head. I just put the last coat on a little bit ago and will let it sit over night to cure out before starting any assembly in the morning.

Took a break to eat a bite .....it was the best pizza on the block.

That looks like an awesome coffee table (but I don't think my wife would let me use it in our living room)

Nice. Make sure you sand the paint of the battery grounding point. Chase the hole out with a tap. She will crank faster.

The rotating assembly is in the engine, head is installed and valve adjustment has been set. Most of my time has been consumed cleaning, bead blasting, priming and waiting for paint to dry on parts and pieces.

These are only some of the parts that have been cleaned up.

The original exhaust manifold is done for. I mocked up the intake and the EFI exhaust manifolds to try and figure out what I need to do in fabricating a coolant plate for the underside of the intake.

Man, that's looking purty! Are you using a gasket for the EFI exhaust manifolds? I thought I read that they're supposed to go straight on the block, or they could crack. I'd sure love to go from the likely 240 in my truck, to a real 300 with the EFI exhaust manifolds.
Probably going to make a road trip (by car) to buy a new transmission for my rig on Tuesday, so I'll ask if he's got any 300s, and if so, maybe go back with the truck back there once the transmission is in.

Yes, I think you"re right about the exhaust manifold. It would take way too much Bondo to fix that one. The engine is coming together quick now. You got blue over-spray on the pizza.-LOL-
