Oil leak top of block behind doghouse 92 e350 351w

Opened the doghouse cover to find a n old oil leak from the rearmost point on the block where it connects to the bellhousing in a flat spot where a circular sensor protrudes upward. I’ll repost with a picture when I get home. Any idea on the source of this leak also what is this sensor that is covered in oil?

That's the oil leak sensor. When you see it covered in oil, you know you have an oil leak.

Just kidding!

Sounds like it might be valve cover. Any signs of it coming down from there? Oil leaks can travel quite a way until they find a place to pool.

I think you're trying to post a pic from your phone or computer directly, yes? If yes, then click the square box with the mountain in it and the sun in the top right corner of the box when you have your reply window open. You'll see the box in the toolbar. That will allow you to directly upload a pic so we can see it. Or you'll have to find an image hosting website in order to show us your pic.

It's almost certainly a spammer, Stewart. Likely a bot.

He's not a bot or spammer, if he were I woulda removed the posts when it was reported.

That part I quoted up there is the result of when someone tries to improperly post a picture.

Ah, there he is. At the time I reported it, he had one post. A one-post user who posts a link is almost always a spammer.

If you don’t have any helpful info on how I can post a picture using my phone on this pos outdated site or helpful information about the issue I am experiencing with my vehicle feel free not to reply.

Calm down. When I looked at that post, three things were in play:

  1. I didn't notice that the username was the same as the person who opened the thread. My bad.
  2. The forum showed your post count at ONE, which it should not have. I even checked your profile, and that was the only post that showed up. Weird glitch - it should have showed your opening post AND the one where you tried to post a picture.
  3. A new poster with one post and trying to post a link is almost a guarantee that it's a spammer, which are usually bots.

As for help with posting a photo, I don't see a "How To" on the site....

You might try this:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/misc.php?do=bbcode

Scroll down and you'll see where the image code is shown. Not sure it will be much help, though. Looks to me like it's only good if you already know what you're doing, IMO.

If that doesn't help, try this. Since the site uses vBulletin, probably any How To on posting on vBulletin should work for you.

If you have oil pooling on the block above the bellhousing. Then it's most likely from either a leaking valve cover gasket. Or the rear gasket of the intake manifold.

If it's a valve cover gasket, there's a good chance it's the passenger side one. With that engine's upper intake manifold design, I've seen a lot of people just replace the driver side valve cover gasket. So just about every one I've owned has had a leaking passenger side gasket when I bought it.
