Goosebox or AUH with an '18 CCSB?

Anyone running a Goosebox or Anderson Ultimate Hitch with a short box? My setup is soon to be an '18 Platinum F350 CCSB SRW and a Grand Design 28BH.

I'd love to save the weight and space of a honking slider hitch (eyeing a B&W slider) in the bed, but want to ensure I still have appropriate margins for reasonable maneuvering (not looking to make 90° turns).

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

The trailer has a radiused nose and an extended pin box, so I don't think you'll need a slider. Our last truck was a CCSB and I put a slider in it. Towed the trailer in my sig. to Alaska and back and never slid it once. I could make 75-80 deg. turns and not hit the cab. I would have had to do an intentional jackknife while backing up to hit, and never came close to needing that degree of swing.
Of the two hitches you mention, I have long toyed with the idea of a Goosebox. I'd love to only have the GN ball to pull. The Andersen is light, but still takes up a lot of space. I just haven't been able to get any solid reviews on the GB. I'm always wondering about the increased forces being applied to the mounting wings and forward trailer frame, but Lippert says it's OK and allows a GB under warranty.

We towed our Reflection its first 12,000 miles with an AUH in a GMC CC 6.5' bed. Did fine.

Good to hear! It sounds like you may have switched. If so, what do you switch to and why?

Thanks!

Great info! I may just give.the GB a shot. From the folks that have em, they seem to be very happy campers.

As full-timers, we were right at the max rear axle capacity of the 3/4-ton Sierra. When we had the chance to trade even for the F350 DRW, we jumped at it. This all happened in the town from where we "launched" and our home-base RV dealer couldn't get the adapter for the Ford puck system and the AUH in time for us to hit the road. We had no choice but to buy the PullRite OE 18K for the Ford puck system so we could hit the road the next day as scheduled. I'll have to say I'm quite happy with the PullRite. It's very easy to hitch and unhitch - but it requires periodic maintenance (pull the head and rocker arm and lubricate) that the Andersen didn't. There's also NO way I'm getting the PullRite out of the bed by myself like I used to with the Andersen (65 with back issues) so it's there to stay.

My hitch is a copy of the goosebox design with the airbags. I am very happy with it.

AUH has worked great for us and friends that have also bought it as well. Lightweight and confidence when hooking up are two huge bonuses in my opinion.

Do a lot of research and find what works best for your situation.

Yep I really wanted the AUH but with the flatbed I have even the shorter version was too tall.

I have been real happy with the AUH, but I pull a lot of goosenecks too.

AUH is not for EVERY situation.... of course isn't that the way for most everything?

AUH has worked great for me with the Momentum. I use it with a B&W Turn over ball gooseneck hitch.

Had a B&W turnover ball installed on 2016 F350 Crew Cab Platinum, single rear wheel, short bed plus Andersen (see photos). Waiting for delivery of 2018 Grand Design 303RLS 5th wheel (32 1/2 ft). Measured similar trailer at dealer before hitch install and confirmed that there should be no issues with turning radius (as stated by other posters). Will report back once I receive the trailer and had a chance to pull it for a while. This is my first 5th wheel trailer.

Both units have their merit
in my case I don’t need any offsets as my 5th wheel (Open Range Light 311FLR) is specifically designed to be towed with a short box 5-1/2 or 6-1/2 box via gooseneck ( or traditional 5th wheel) without voiding warranty.
If there are no gooseneck / trailer clearance / warranty issues then I’d say gooseneck is the way to go. That Anderson rig is great but does take up considerable bed real estate.
