shaking like it is 6 cylinder still, even w/ new harnesses

New UVCH harnesses, new motorcraft IPR and it is still acting like a 6 cylinder. Replaced the IPR because while it was running I put my finger on the IPR plug and put pressure on it and the truck smoothed right out and would rev. The problem was right back on the following test drive. My son and I purchased a $600 scanner I can't use without his laptop, (my laptop has too many drivers missing do to an insufficient repair and reboot) After searching, It appears all I can find as the listed problem is the UVCH's. Mine are brand new, clipped in tight with all clips engaging their respective catches. Checked the wiring harness to see if it was shorting to the valve cover, looked great, covered it with electrical tape for added measure.
I will keep searching but feel free to input possible fixes.
I will say that when we did have the scanner/ monitor hooked up while test driving, my son noticed the power was down compared to his truck, ( Identical to mine except mine is a 4x4) We are both running DP tuners w/ same programs. while the high pressure oil pump was producing just fine, in stock mode the ipr pressure would only hit like 45%. While in economy mode it jumped to a much higher number. He was thinking the numbers were too low in both positions. I hope to get him back out here with his laptop so we can run it again to see what codes are present.

My first step would have been to remove the tuner/chip and check for problems.

Take a good close look at the wires to the ipr plug. Our rigs are getting older and wires do break down. You can get new pigtails and splice them in

New parts do not always mean that they are working normally.

Here is my vote for next steps. Am with Sous in un-plugging the aftermarket tune and see what happens. If the results do not change, then it is highly likely that the truck's computer is 8itching about something and might want to consider either getting your scanner working, wait until your son comes by, or pay a local indi shop to take a deep dive into the truck's computer before throwing more parts at it.

You could also check for chafed wires near the 42 pin connector where they rub on the VC.

One can use some washers to get that 42-pin connector from sitting in contact with the valve cover, very easy to do.

Get out your ohn meter and check injector wiring at the 42 pin connector. I believe Tugly has a photo of the connector with injector pins labeled in his signature. He also has some very good diagnostic links in his sig.

I'm with the earlier guys. If putting your finger on a wiring connection makes the truck run better, focus on that wiring connection and associated wires.

Thinking now that I needed to run the engine more to replace the air that got into the HP oil system. It seems to be fine now going to run it for a few days and see what happens. Tried to put scanner back on but had to order a new code for the scanner to work on my laptop. Will post up in a couple of days.

Okay, after some driving I'm thinking I got some air in the hp oil system while swapping the IPR. It seems to be running fine now after about 10 minutes of idling and a 7 mile run.
If it comes back, I will post up.
Thanks for all the input from all you guys.
