Introducing the 77’!

Hey everyone! Wanted to introduce myself and the 77’ F100 I picked up today. Needs a transmission and rearend, but I snagged it for $600. If anyone in the Tulsa area knows of a c6 for sale that will bolt to the 351m let me know.

I’m still a little new to the scene here on dent side trucks, but I believe a 351m uses the smallblock bell housing meaning it will accept a c6 from a 300, 302, or 351 not sure about other things like flex plate fitment or etc.

Nope, 351m's use the same bell housing as the 400, 429, 460.

Welcome to FTE Quaranta, and correct a 351M will bolt to a BIG block auto trans pattern ONLY.

Did you match the paper title vi# with the dvrs door riveted on Warranty Plate #, and the B pillar Safety Certification white sticker #, AND the frame vi#? Because that front grill looks like a 73...

Make sure you join your FTE Oklahoma chapter to get a lead on in state parts.

I havent, but thanks for the tip. The title says 77 but I have not checked the vins. I went the route of blindly throwing over $600 because it seemed like a steal lol

It is a steal, untill you find out you paid $600 for a title and a matching door, and the rest of the truck is stole....I am sure it will work out, just ck the #'s.

Darn it, tried to teach myself that engines that start with 3 are small block and engines that start with 4 are big block. Guess 351 is also big block. Should’ve remembered that 400 is stroked 351 therefore they are the same engine block

351 Cleveland and Windsor have the smaller bell patterns. The 351M and 400 were never put in anything smaller than a Torino Elite, and have the big block bell pattern.

I see the '73-'75 grills, but I also see F100 CUSTOM nomenclature on the cowl, and that indicates '77-'79. Still a good idear to see if the frame agrees. Does the fuel filler have a vanity door, or exposed cap?

Small Block V8 (221, 260, 289, 5.0/302, 5.8/351W)

Big Block V8 - 385 Series (6.1/370, 7.0/429, 7.5/460)

Not to be confused with....

FE & FT Big Block V8 (332, 352, 360, 390, 406, 410, 427, 428)

But remember....335 Series- 5.8/351M, 6.6/400, 351 Cleveland
