Open veins at idle?

Hello, I was curious if I got a custom tune with open veins at idle would that affect normal driving at all? To me it doesn't seem like it would but better to know other options before I get a tune with open veins written into it. Also does anyone know if quick tricks would write open veins at idle into their Looney tune?

If you have a laptop you can download Forscan for free, then just get an ELM 327 for the OBD port to communicate with the laptop.
Amazon Amazon
Forscan has a ton of cool feature, one them is the ability to control the VGT with a slidebar if I remember correctly.
That might help you figure out how it affect things, just a word of caution if you are after smoke. It's going to lag badly and soot the turbo up a lot quicker, we all know soot is the last thing these turbos need with the variable veins.

I know my son who actually owns the truck has done the trick a few times where you unplug the VGT....he likes the way it sounds. I told him to knock it off after I noticed the plug was starting to chip from him taking it off

I remember reading somewhere that guys will wire a switch into the solenoid pigtail. I think it's the blue wire, all the switch does is complete the circuit.

Don't want it for smoke, more just for the sound at idle. I know a tune from truck source diesel has the open veins option it's just far too powerful for me to want as a daily driver tune. Hopefully they can write it into the Looney tune

I personally don't like the Looney Tune because of it's transmission shifting. Matt Robinson (can't remember his company at the moment) can do it for you, I'm quite sure, and his transmission tuning is very very good.

It's the best really as he's one of the few I've seen that modifies it the way he does. Most every one else like Vivian use the SCT shifting that I don't care for. With Matt's shifting, you don't have the transmission jerking every time you tap the brakes.

Chris at Truck Source Diesel and The guys over at Gearhead can do it.
