when I did my trans oil change just 5k ago I used Mercon LV, dealer confirmed the amount and using LV, also there is a great youtube video about changing it, and LV also expands when it heats up, so make sure to fill it most of the way and then check the level and keep addng it when the trans is warm.

The Haynes repair manual IS a mistake. I do not trust it for anything beyond lining a bird cage.
