Cruisomatic Help What is it?

What is it? I figured somebody in this group may know what it is. It came from a 63 F100. It is an appoximately 1/8 steel tube that goes into the transmission behind the shifting linkage. There was a compression connector at the top end, but it isn't there in the picture. Where does it go to? Also, sorry about the lousy picture, but I am looking for a drive shaft with the connection that goes to the tranny. It bolts on to the tranny.

A line running to the radiator to cool the trans fluid?

If/when you do find out, let us know!

I believe that is for a pressure gauge, you should remove it and install a plug in the case.

vacuum line would be rubber connection, not compression fitting

yup. you see the screen in the bell housing around the torque converter? that is for airflow to keep the converter cool.
i only saw one fordomatic burn up due to heat, because the girl got it stuck in a field and tried to get it out until the wheels stopped moving.

I noticed the screen but didn't know what to make of it. Makes sense.

Is the torque converter finned in some way to aid in cooling?

Never knew there was such an animal.

I don't believe the Cruise o Matic had a finned converter, other air cooled transmissions will have the fins but not all.

cruiseomatic is a three speed automatic on the lines of the C-4
fordomatic air cooled trans was a two speed automatic
also, the cruisomatic is more commonly called the "green dot" trans and is not air cooled, it had a coolant to oil cooler in the bottom of the radiator.

I always called the C4 a C4 even when it was a green dot.
