I must have had to fill mine. I have a $7 charge (no way that's diesel) at a Shell I use that has a DEF pump on the same day as the Ford invoice but I can't remember if it was low prior to taking it in, knowing they would need to drop the tank.

I'm not locating anything that states BC3Z-5J225-L superseded "x" part number, at least for the 2011.

Mine was replaced, scheduled for the 3rd, but replaced on the 7th. $100 warranty deductible. As far as I know, they installed the same part that is prone to failure.

So, Ford has acknowledged this is a problem but has yet to extend coverage to my truck (2015 F350 with 69K). I was able to get a new heater for $160 and the swap was surprisingly easy. It took just over one hour with a basic socket set. If you have an iota of mechanical ability, do it yourself. There are good videos available that will walk you through the process. I was quoted $900 at the local dealership. At 100K, some of this stuff may fall off....

For systems designed for double that mileage, it's amazing how that happens! /s

I have to replace the heater on my 15 super duty also. Can you tell me where you found the part and what that part number was? I tried at my local part store, and they just gave me blank stares.

Keep an eye on the price of those dorman units. Looking around online they are as much if not more than the OEM. Walmart.com was the cheapest I could find the Dorman unit.

OEM - https://parts.autonationfordwhitebea...-l?parent=1173

Dorman - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dorman-90...ater/140319689

The DORMAN (904372) is $135.79 on Rockauto. That's where I purchased mine.

Had my first failure and I'm not even to 22k miles yet on a 2016. This truck is going to put me on a first name basis with the local dealership if it keeps going like this. 2 NOX sensors and the tank heater in the past 45 days.
