ExPACamper did, but I have not seen him on FTE for a while.

Let us know what you find, I have already added longer boots and one size larger clamps to my list of parts.

I run the BD boot kit, RR inserts and RR tbolt clamps for the plenum and have zero issues. You need to ditch the stock boots

I have the inserts and t bolt clamps. They were put together oily and dirty when I jammed everything together. I was not happy with how the boots were on and had planned to pull it apart and redo. I forgot about it and am surprised it lasted this long. The clamps were not completely on the boot at the top.

How much longer are those boots for the intake y? I'm looking for about an inch longer than stock.

No clue but stock boot length is fine if not oily and dirty

I gave up after I cleaned them twice. Back when I was fighting with the wrong parts.

I did some digging and I think the stock orange boots are 2.3" long and most aftermarket I see are 3" long. Can anyone confirm this?

Installed new longer 3" boots last night (about 11/16" longer than stock). I forgot to take pictures but now the boots are on the plenum as far as possible and on the Y all the way up to the round bosses. Clamps are on much better now with boot sticking past the clamps.

A few things to help, My opinion and is worth exactly what you paid for it:

1 Do not buy black boots. I wanted blue but got black because they were from another location quicker to ship (needed installed yesterday so I can use truck today). Black blends in the dark valley making it harder to see what is going on when working outside in the dark. Blue or red would stand out more making install easier and a quick visual inspection more convenient in the future.

2 Install. Stick both boots on the plenums and put 1 clamp on each but do not tighten. Start drivers side of Y then push and stretch the passenger side on. Take nuts off the other 2 t-bolt clamps to open them up and install on the Y.

3 Y hold down bracket. I had not installed the bolt from the bracket to the Y as it is a pain so I removed it while I had everything apart.

Did you get slightly larger clamps as well or just use the ones you had?

As others have seen at times, it can be difficult to get the nuts on the clamp bolt since the boot is thicker than the OEM boots were.

Clamps are the ones from RiffRaff. I got them when I got the plenum inserts. (clamps in pictures above with old boots) ( I replaced just the orange oem boots)

Went riding over the weekend. Truck ran great. Plenty of power. Ran the swamps light tow tune still at 24000 lbs with the tall fifthwheel.

This is what the visible gauges are. Egt above tablet Boost above egt straight up is 25 psi.

Need to remove my diy boost fooler. It has acted up so I am scrapping the idea. Pay attention to the mechanical boost gauge rather than the tablet.

Cruising along between 65 and 70 in od 2100 rpm to 2200 rpm or so up a little hill nothing big or long just enough to make it work a little. Next little hill after the video I cave it a little more pedal and accelerated up to 70 pretty quickly for what I was towing. Seems to be the spot where power really starts to come on. (for a 7.3 with splitshots)

Is there a reason your boost and egt gauges are turned sideways?

24,000 lbs in a light tow tune on split shots, looks like the T4/SXE is doing right by your truck.

I have my gauges turned a bit too, not that much though. For me, they are more comfortable to glace at from an offset perspective.

Egt is straight up at 1100 so at a glance I know it is approaching 1200 and keep an eye on it. Boost straight up is 25. I may move boost to 20 as that seems to be where it is when towing.

My thinking is that straight up is all good and I don't need to read the gauge. I also played with the min and max on a few on the tablet trying to get them similar. Plan is when under load towing all are between 11 and 1 on a clock face if something is over by 9, 10, 2, 3 I know something is wrong without having to analyze the number. Back off immediately then figure out what is going on. Needs a little adjustment still with the values. Trying to have lots of information available at a glance. A few all the way on the left of the tablet are just curiosity. Iat and mat for example.

That makes sense I guess, I don't know if I am a little bit OCD or what but that would drive me nuts if I had my guages turned like that.
