Hey Guys,
Need some brain power from you experts.
I am in the process planning an engine build for a 72 F100 4 X 4 that I have found. It has a 360 now but I want to put a small block in it. I have a free 351 C 2 barrel manifold and a $100 351 M engine. Question is can I use it on this engine. Don't know anything about Cleveland engines or ford "M" engines.
As always I value all the knowledge on this forum and I humbly thank you!
351c and 351m are the same engine family but 351m has a taller deck height so the intake won't work without some spacer/adaptors which would negate the free intake
351m or c would need a different transmission too stick with the FE
Wrong-o. 67-72 4x4's used NP-435 4 speeds only which were also used in Dents until replaced by T-18's in 1979. 73 saw C-6's. 351M/400's which used the 429/460 bell housing started in1977 with NP-435's and C-6's. 351C's use the SBF bell housing.

I've owned plenty of 72 and earlier with the BW transmission and not the NP-425. Ford used both.
