Yes! Are you going to tell us how? The damn thing inset to the mirror is about useless at night and when traffic is behind you.

Seriously, how about a write up on how you did this. That is a great mod,

I just took my 18 on her first 4 hour road trip and was thinking how much more useful the little yellow light would be if you could actually see it in your periphery without taking your eyes off the road. If I have to cut my eyes to find the yellow light I can just as easily glance at the big blind spot mirror

Neat idea, but I trust the images in my mirrors more than the BLIS indicators. I bet those interior lights could become rather annoying after awhile ... especially at night.

Sure, .. pop the panels off to reveal the harness plug. There’s 4 clips holding it on. Pry from the hinge side of the door to avoid stressing the clips. Next unplug the 22 pin harness plug. Locate wires going to pins “13” and “20”.... “13” is your + and “20” your - Peel the insulation back on each wire about 1/8” (do not cut the wire!) I used a servo extension that will provide a small disconnect if needed. The servo extensions are available at any RC Hobby Shop that sells planes, cars etc.
I cut the servo extension about 3-1/2” long for both the male and female ends. Strip the wire back on the center (red) and brown wire. Wrap the red wire around the # 13 wire, and the brown around the # 20 wire and carefully solder in place.
There is a little detent in the back side of the cover near the top. Drill a pilot hole through that little round detent, followed by a 29/128, or a 15/64 drill bit.
I used a blue 1watt 6mm flush mount LED Bolt available from Oznium. A small dab of GOOP applied to the back side of the LED after installing in cover prevents the very tiny jam nuts from backing off.
I chose the 1watt because others I’ve tested would fry my retinas... Hope this helps! Best Regards...

Oh, I used liquid electrical tape to seal/insulate the soldered splices. (Home Depot)

Nice job! Thanks for the info. I’m going to order the parts and put I in my rig. I figured if it’s too bright, I’ll put some finger nail polish on it. I ordered a amber/yellow.

Thanks... the photo shows a glare around my LED, but it’s actually not that bright.

I like where you went with this. My thoughts were to source a couple yellow LEDs and put them on either end of the HUD crash warning lights in the dash. I think a HUD notification would do me better. If I find the time, I'll add to your thread.

I wonder how easily the HUD elements come out of the dash.
