Reminder Flatlanders Truckfest 2018 27 & 28 April 2018

What do you guys think of a cruise on parts of old Route 66 in Saint Louis Saturday? Could take a photo at an old St Louis Diner EAT RITE. Then for those that want to go to the Arch...

If you haven’t heard about the get together, it’s just a place for us hobbyists to kick off the 2018 season; to talk trucks, meet FTE members and enjoy looking at what others have done with their trucks.

Wanna come? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...est-lives.html

I like the idea of a Saturday cruise! You'll know best what to include on the itinerary. I'd be interested in visiting the Arch and any other historical sites you can fit into a little tour of your area. I'd certainly be up for visiting an historic diner on Route 66.

I'm still waiting on a new wire harness for my truck, but I have fixed a gas tank leak, mounted my spare tire under the truck, and purchase halogen headlights and LED tail light bulbs. I also purchased period correct headlight relay switches and had my viper motor rebuilt. My truck should be in better shape than it was for last year's trip to Kentucky.

Unfortunately the diner is closed, possibly for good, but it’s still a neat photo opportunity for our trucks.
There’s pleanty to see here in the St Louis area and the surrounding area. Everything from Sherman’s grave to Daniel Boone’s house. Budweiser Brewery tours to our Free Zoo. I really don’t want to stage anything particular, other than a cruise to the Arch unless there’s a group that wants to do it. OBTW we even have the first part of Interstate system built under President Dwight Eisenhower.

Jim,
You’re getting with it up there! Did they tell you with led tail lights you would need a LED Flasher? When they sold me my Panels tail lights they told me my old style flasher wouldn’t work.

Nice t-shirt! Can you get trucks close enough to the arch for a photo op?

There’s a road that runs between the Arch and the Mississippi. It’s mainly used for Tour Busses but we’ll give it a try.

As luck would have it the Eat Rite is under new ownership and now could be open for our Cruise.

BJ you may want to think about the “Truckfest” banner for your get together that has been at every Truckfest I believe. Doc probably knows if that is correct or not but I know I’ve signed the back of it a few times. Again I’m not sure of how it works but somehow it gets passed on to each event so you can take a picture with it by all the trucks that attend. If you work it out you will have to get it to someone attending the Sept event in TN so they can get it to the one in PA a week or two later. Hope it works out.

Dave,
I’m not sure which one you’re talking about but I have Harley’s FTE Banner already. So we’ll be covered banner wise.

BJ it must be the one you have. I knew someone had it after the last TS in TN but didn’t know who. It’s a neat tradition for TS events.
Still not sure if I can make it but I’m going to try. Even if it is just for the one day.

I am hoping to talk Nicolle into going. I mentioned it to her, but I really need to work on her more...It's tough to get the time off with the workload but on both of us. She has to give 60 days notice for time off, and then it's an argument as to why someone would need a day off...I just went through an outpatient procedure and needed her to be with me to drive me home. I was put into "sleepy-sleep"! Her boss wasn't going to give her the day off....A bunch of Nicolle's co-workers stood behind her. She got the day off, but it was like pulling teeth....Corporate America....well enough on that...
I am wondering if we could come down early Saturday morning? Hang out all day, at a minimum. Alton is only like 2.5 hrs away, so no biggie. I really enjoyed the truck event in Bloomington(Rojak's) and in Wisconsin at Bob's!
It sure would be awesome to actually drive my '49 to one of these...not this year....It would certainly help my motivation to be more involved!
Sometimes I feel like an outsider looking in...
I even slowed up on car shows, because it's depressing to see all the cool rides and I'm not even close...after 8 years....I woulda never guessed that!
