Getting back on the bike
Figuratively speaking, that is, as the last time I was on a bike (motorbike), I ended up head over handlebars right in front of my home with half the neighbourhood barreling down on me to see if I was okay. That was in 1979.
Anyway, I sold my beloved old Dorothy to a guy up north of where I live who painted it up and made it look much nicer than I could ever have afforded at the time. I still regret selling it, but that's what happens in life, hey? Lots of regrets, and they don't get any easier to live with.
After selling my 54 truck I messed about for a while with sports cars. That didn't satisfy me, so I sold them (Toyota 86 and Nissan 370z) both within a year.
Then, my wife and I started looking at model A Fords, as my better half has always loved the look. I was quite indifferent, but did like the hotrod look. However, she was adament that I was not to modify one if we bought one. So we did. A 1929 model A coupe.
After about six months of having it sit in the garage, I convinced my wife that I would never drive something like that without a big thumping v8 in it and disk brakes. This, of course, meant lots of money had to be thrown at it, which I was not keen to do. Now, had it been a truck, I would have happily spent stacks of money on it.
And there's the rub, right there. I wasn't passionate about the old model A.
Deep down, what I really wanted was another truck.
So, just yesterday I put the coupe on the market and it sold by the end of the evening. Can't say I am sorry. My wife is a bit upset, but when I told her how much it was going to cost to make a decent driving car out of it, she agreed. (Nothing against original old Henry Ford iron, I just prefer the hotrod look and sound)
So now I am in the hunt for another truck. A '51-56 is where I'm at. A few in town (Australia) show promise, but am not adverse to shopping across the ocean.
If you know of anything going, I'd be more than obliged to receive your feedback.
I can tell you one thing already: IT'S GREAT TO BE BACK!

If you can find a 53 - 56 f100 landed here for 10k i'll take ten of them .
I don't think it's doable .
You will be paying around $3500 just in shipping .
Customs have really cracked down on imports , even to the extent of pulling vehicles apart looking for asbestos brake linings and gaskets , clutches etc .
Good luck dude .
