Ah, Virginia City.

3) Julia C. Bulette Red Light Museum

If you’ve been on enough family outings to tire somewhat of Old West towns, you may have come to realize that there has been something missing, something as intrinsic to the Wild West mythos as high-noon showdowns—namely, the brothel. The Julia C. Bulette Red Light Museum in Virginia City, Nevada, fills this void with photographs, dio...

Neat pic from the inter web.
But this is not where he's buried. The original grave marker was wood, it rotted away, so no one knows where he's truly buried.

The officials at the Glenwood Springs CO cemetery placed this tombstone for EZ access for the general public, but nothing is buried beneath it.

And you cannot believe anything in Stuart N. Lake's biography of Wyatt Earp, because Lake admitted many years later that he made most of it up.

Lake supposedly met with Earp several times, but there's not a shred of evidence that he even saw Earp in person.

A friend of Earp's had written a biography, but even with the help of actor William S. Hart (who did know Earp), he couldn't find a publisher who was interested.

Lake acquired this manuscript, then made the rest of it up.

Love the mystery of it all.

“In May 1887, Holliday went to Glenwood Spring, Colo., to try the sulphur vapors, since his health was worsening. He stayed at the Hotel Glenwood, not a sanitarium, although the hotel catered to those who hoped to be ‘healed’ by the Yampah Hot Springs. Nothing could be done for him; his tuberculosis was more relentless than any human enemy. He spent his last 57 days in bed and was delirious for 14 of them. On November 8, 1887, John Henry ‘Doc’ Holliday awoke, clear-eyed, and asked for a glass of whiskey. It was given to him, and he drank it down with obvious enjoyment. Then he said, ‘This is funny,’ and died.”

“Gravesite:

There are all kinds of stories about this. The official record is that Doc’s remains were moved from the old cemetery and placed in the newer Linwood Cemetery near where the current memorial stone stands. Others say that the ground was too icy to bury him on top of the hill and that he’s still buried where the old cemetery was which is probably under someone’s house. This is quite unlikely as all the bodies were moved.

Doc Holliday's grave
Doc Holliday’s headstone in Linwood Cemetery
In a letter addressed to Susan McKey Thomas in 1973 Art Kendricks is again called upon to recollect Doc Holliday’s burial. He stated that Doc was buried on Palmer Avenue and Twelfth Street, just below the Linwood Cemetery. He would then account that Doc’s body was moved up to Linwood Cemetery at a later date and that he had marked the place with a small wooden cross. The American Legion Post donated a headstone to replace the wooden cross. This is where the current headstone sits.

It’s interesting to note that the grave next to Doc’s is Arthur Seller’s who died of typhoid in The Hotel Glenwood on September 22, 1887 just a few weeks before Doc. His room was across the hall from Doc’s. I think there’s a good chance that Doc is buried close to the marker as it would make logical sense to lay out the new cemetery with the most recently deceased next to one another. However, since the records for the cemetery are missing from the times, I can’t verify this one way or another.

Another suggestion has been made that Doc’s body was shipped back to Georgia and buried in Griffin, GA. Two unmarked gravestones have been found in Oak Hill cemetery. It’s claimed that one of the gravestones is for Doc’s father Major Henry Burroughs Holliday and the other for Doc Holliday himself. Again, there is currently no easy way to prove this one way or another.”

If any of this info came from wiki-wiki, that should tell you it's BS

I remember reading years ago that Holliday was buried in Arlington Cemetery. Born in GA, never served in the Union Army, so this was false.

1've researched Holliday, Earp, Hickok, John Wesley Hardin and other old west figures for decades.

I've been to where many historic events occurred: Las Vegas NM, Tombstone, Glenwood Springs, Deadwood (where Hickok is buried), Little Big Horn (formerly Custer) Battlefield.

Buffalo, Cody, Thermopolis and Ranchester WY, San Antonio & El Paso TX and a lot more.

I collect 19th century Winchester levers and Colt SAA's, but later became more interested in those that used them.

btw: Doc died a pauper, so he was probably buried in a paupers grave originally.

Sean, the death of Jesse James was disputed for years. There were two people that claimed they were Jesse, and one was very believable.

Several family members wanted to know, so they dug up Jesse...and after the DNA was tested, it was proven that "the dirty little coward that shot Mr. Howard and laid poor Jesse in his grave" was Jesse.

A foot of snow over the past week so of course son-in-law Matt and I hit the links. They don’t fly as well with a ribbon taped to the bottom of the disk but sure makes it easier to find them.

For those who wondered what all the sweeping and screaming was about, as I did.

And some interesting science behind it.

Seems to be all young people participating in the Olympics, even though I don't know why old guys couldn't do it well. At least as the Skip.

I would not wear those plaid pajamas. So that might limit my future in the sport.

Out here in the middle, we don’t have access to Scottish granite, luckily frozen cats work just fine.
