VIN Code 0001

I am new to this forum. I own a 1966 U14 Bbronco with a unique DSO code (52 0001). I know 52 is referring to Des Moines, but I am having a hard time finding any information on what was specially ordered from the factory. Ive had used ALL the VIN decoder websites and being a '66 there is no Marti report. I have tried to contact Ford and all local Iowa dealerships(none exist from that era) for any information and had no luck. Can anyone help so I can restore this unique Bronco back to it's original condition?

what is your specific Q & full/final intent?

not sure ur answr - I put up 4 & u mention 2.

"...Numbers Dummy , a member right here...."
PM this member. He's very 'giving', helpful, colegueal, all roung good guy - has alot of the ol info right with him.

Now when U ask bout 'help me restore' yes I can give U places 4 all the parts but...sounds like U want it to match the VIN or build sheet. Keep @ researchin paint color, motor, etc so U know oem/can match it...

Absolutely, I have all of the information(paint, motor, rear end, body style) necessary to restore to the original purchased condition except what was special ordered from the factory(520001). To be honest I am now turning into a little bit of a man obsessed to find the history of this bronco. Thanks for the recommendation, I will PM him as soon as I can (10 day waiting period after sign up).

ND touched on the DSO subject here for me:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post17739634

If the Warranty Plate has a 2 digit DSO code, this refers to the District Sales Office the dealer ordered the truck from. Example: 74 = Seattle.

If the code is 6 digits, the first 2 refer to the above, the last 4 denote a Domestic Special Order. Example: 741234
As you know, the '66 records are not available - so without the actual order sheet you may never know.....

Keep your eyes peeled for a build sheet buried somewhere within the vehicle

"... find the history..."
it's a fun hobby.
I've been less interested in the whole vehicle (cept 4 military and wrk vehicles [sno plow, trencher, backhoe, augers could B ordered]) & gotten more into the motor.
If having an i6 & interested - join us over @ fordsix.

Yea I keep kind of hoping that the build sheet magically appears somewhere or one of the automotive historians in Iowa pull a rabbit out of their hat and find some original paperwork from the dealer. I just found the matching VIN stamped on the frame the other day and the truck still has the original motor, transmission and transfer case. At this point it would be a crime to modify it in any way.

And by no means am I,but being the 278 Bronco rolled off the line and the first custom one out of Des Moines (assuming they started at 0001 instead of 0000) I might just sell it and get one that has its value hinged only on its intrinsic originality.

another Drew Paronie.

It's not a bad idea if in need of cash. Just ck the current prices!

2 ways to go in my mind: 1) due absolutely no thing 2 it;
2) try'n restore to exact specs (as 'issued').
And id current highest sale price, hold out for that figure.

I'd rather neither, but I am old and been gettin an income from this rig for over 30 yrs. I say - see just exactly what you want it for, modify it to exact specs for that use alone. AND use it, maintain it, and when my age mod it for your 21 y/o daughter!
8^0

All 3 choices R 4 those who do their own work. No returns on hiring out~
Good Luck, let us know how you do!

Join up CB ClassicBroncos.com Forums - 66-77 Early Ford Bronco Discussion Forums and you will have TONS of help. The EB forum here is a little slow and not real active. No harm no foul is what it is. CB is like a Bronco's on nitrous, and a VERY active forum community.
