Ken my mom has to go through some treatments for her health right now. The one pill she is on runs around 5 grand a month.

I had one $8000 shot also...amazing how they can charge that much. Of course...in general...insurance companies get a 40% discount off list price...MEDICARE gets a much larger discount. Something needs to be done about the for profit health care system. Many countries offer free health care...as well as free education to all their citizens.

agreed.. life saving drugs shouldnt cost thousands of dollars to get... like the epinephrine for ppl with severe allergies... or the insulin needed for diabetics... some of the drugs their charging few hundred-- few thousand $$$ for here theyre giving away for free in 3rd world countries..

the free health care in Europe isnt really "free" though.. the people there are taxed pretty heavily from their paychecks and then the govt there pays the health care bills.. least thats what i been told by the citizens/residents from there..

Of course it's not free...taxes cover it...just like in Canada. The problem is the for profit companies...the pharmaceuticals...hospitals...doctors...etc. Check your 401K...if you have one. I would be wiling to bet there are at least some health care related industries represented.

one of my friends has severe allergy to any kind of nut. he use to keep epi-pens around for in case he had something not allergin marked.. before Obama Care was put in place he told me it was only $30 every other month to replace the pens as they expired.. after that got passed his pens shot to $2300 each.. now he carries a little fanny pack bag with a vial of epinephrine and couple needles to shoot himself with if needed. said the little vials were close to what he had been paying before.. which imo is a bit sad because the pens were able to deliver the meds faster since it was just remove cap and shoot.. where now he has to get it out of the vial, fill the needle to the correct amount and then shoot himself with it.. sometimes those few seconds can be fatal depending on the severity of the reaction...

The price increase for epi pens can not be blamed on Obama Care...that's lame. The price increase was due to 2 factors...#1...1 brand...Auvi Q was pulled from the market for quality issues creating a monopoly for Mylan...and #2 Greed on the part of Mylan and it's CEO.
Mylan CEO saw 600% pay increase during EpiPen price raise - NY Daily News

I don't believe that the price is as high as you stated...more like $700/2 pack.

I would try CL and see if you could meet someone half way. The NY CL bought some OEM wheels for his new to him F-150 and found a buyer to meet him in this manner. You could also try local Ford dealers to see if they're interested. The same could go with tire stores...alignment shops...body shops...etc. A bit of effort on your part...but...it might do the trick. Good luck!!!
