Brake booster not available?

I'm in need of a booster and not a single auto parts place seems to be able to even order one in. NAPA, O'Reilly's, Advanced, Rock Auto, have all been contacted.

Any ideas, or options from other vehicles? Maybe a hot rod shop, Wildwood?

There are a few different boosters used on these trucks. What truck are you talking about? Year, 2 or 4WD, F100, 150, 250, 350, etc. all make a difference.

The year may be a bit hard to pin down. The cab is 75. But it has a 351M, and a high opinion 44 with open knuckles & disc brakes. (Dual piston) which I believe was only 77 to 79. Its, 4wd, C6, xlt, std cab f250.

Did the booster you're using come with the cab ?
Also, see if you can find an ID number stamped on the booster housing.

1973/79 F100/350: There are 22 different brake pedals, 19 different P/B boosters, 17 different master cylinders, 7 different clutch pedals, I kid you not!

The brake pedal has a Ford ID number stamped on it, post what it is. The number will be similar to this: D3TA-AA or D3TA-2455-AA

The booster must match the brake pedal, so once the number is posted, mikeo0o0o0 or I can give you the info.

The booster will have to be sent for a rebuild. Or upgrade the booster with either hydrboost or a late model F150 booster from a 09-14 they are cheap.

Well there have been some in and out of stock lately, I got notifications from some outlets saying they were back in stock, but were sold out the same day. Nevertheless I sent mine to DeweysBoosters in Oregon and the turn around time was 5 weeks FYI.

I snapped a picture of the only number on the pedal. It doesn't seem to match the format.
I bought it more or less as is so the miss match has always been an issue for me. My son has a 75 that was my father's so I know the background of it, and the booster on it looks the same. It had the 44HD with drums in front.
Here's the picture.

Looks like D3TA-CA. I'll see what I come up with.

What would it take to put in a late model f150 booster?

This particular pedal fits:
73-77 F100 w 2WD w/o power brakes F100/150 4WD
73-74 F250 6200 GVW std. brakes, 6200 GVW w/ heavy duty brakes
75-76 F250 w/ 6200 GVW w/ std. brakes w/o speed control, 6200 GVW w HD brakes w/o speed control
73-76 F250 6900, 7500, 8100 GVW w/o speed control, F250 4WD
73-76 F350 w/o speed control

Taking a guess, 76 F250 4WD w/ HD dual piston disc brakes takes booster P/N D6TZ-2005-H, this booster is 8.80" in diameter. See if you can find the ID number D5UA-2005-AEA stamped on the housing.
I did a search and couldn't find anyone with a NOS unit.

I just ordered a PB booster for a dual caliper F-250 that is supposed to be unavailable through an independent parts shop. I'll believe it when I see it next week but, they said they got one.

Failing that, you could send yours out to be rebuilt or at least adapt a 1980's booster.

Been reading all the reports and knew that I needed a booster soon, started checking. Figured I would get the same answer as all of you, but had to try.
Yep, my local go-to shop just sends them to the local rebuilder that I was going to send my old one to after I got the new one. Looks like I'll be sending it out sooner rather than later.

Or I may bite the bullet and just go hydroboost after all. I'm not necessarily into changing things that don't need it, and while the Early Bronco boosters SUCK(!) my F350 always had tons of assist with the vacuum. So adding more plumbing (and cost) was not high on my list.
But now that might all change. All that whining coming from somebody who's shop actually makes a kit! https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/produc...ke_Kits_7879yr
It's clean and should give good boost. Especially if I upgrade to a Saginaw/Delphi pump like I'm contemplating now too. Geez, and here I thought I was going to save money and keep all my old stuff.

So yeah, that was a bit of a shameless plug, but now with such a poor supply of vacuum boosters, going hydro might not be out of line. Especially with the F100/150 trucks which some convert to the F350 booster anyway.
