I installed the new style mirrors awhile ago. There is much more viewing area, and the shrinky dink ones are fabulous. I can see the rear tires while reversing, great for getting into tight spots.

 

What do you mean by "shrinky dink"?

I have been set on getting these mirrors for a while, so it has been a long time coming.

Yes, the bottom wide view mirrors. I actually use them exclusively for regular driving, the huge upper ones are better for use with a trailer. I have them pointed out rather far. While some folks think these mirrors are too large, there are zero blind spots with them.

 

Installation is complete...and as my title states, there's always something. Found out my mirror switch is bad and won't go to the right! New one on order.
There is a plastic tab in the first picture that needs to be cut to look like the second picture. The only other thing that needs to be done is file the round base of the studs to fit the outer door skin and rest on the inner. I didn't have a file with me, so I made the outer hole a little bigger with a socket and they popped right in. Hooked up the adapters, and they work great. Still need to do the marker light, but saving that for a later date.

I'll have one for ya in the morning! I slammed the door really good a couple times and watched the glass and there was no more movement than the factory dog ears, so I have high hopes they will do well on the highway.

Now to dive in and do my CAC/plenum boots!

So I drove in to work this morning about 30 miles on the highway. The mirrors did great! No vibrations at all! And my truck even has a pretty bad vibration at 65 because of the tires. Even through that, the mirrors didn't vibrate. I can confidently recommend these mirrors! Even with the little bit of modification required, the $500 savings over OEM is well worth it.

I also saw my boost hit 18 for the first time this morning after replacing all my boots last night, and I don't hear rushing air all the time now!

 

Done! Thanks for the road test and honest opinion about the mirrors. I didn't quite understand the need for the studs to be filed, but I am sure I will when I start working on them.

 

The way the doors are, there is an outer skin and inner skin. There is a big hole in the outer skin, and the studs go through that to rest flush on the inner skin. The studs in the new mirrors are ever so slightly larger than the hole in the outer skin on the bottom 2 holes, so the mirror won't sit flush. You can drill the holes bigger, but in order to do it without fooling with the truck you can file the base of the studs to fit through the holes
