Ok all a little up date, I've decided to have the head pulled and replaced with new. While I'm in there I'll go ahead and have the other pulled and have all the studs replaced (bullet proofing) I know it was the 6.0 that had this issue but it's a only a few 100 more to do this while they are in there. I'll post up some pics for I requested to see the tear down. I'm a ACFT mech so the shop was cool with that fact I wanted to see it as it is I'm a mech also, just jet enjines.

I'll post up some pics, looks like I'll be de-cabbing

If you still have the stock tip on its going to thump! Diamond Eye has a nice exaust, down pipe back. 4''. I don't have a tuner yet but I made the same mods you have. It thumped at Idle. Put the new exaust on and it changed the sound. Its going to be louder than stock but not that bad. Just remember that the exaust had to get pushed through that cruise missle that was under there and that made it sound quiet. Get rid of that over the axle section of the exaust. Oh, if the EGR wasn't causing a problem, it would have. 13 mpg did suck! 18.5 is alot better! Now I have to change that stuff at the bottom! It ain't stock anymore!

I agree if this would have let go while running I'd be putting in a new engine

Wowza, that’d certainly make the noise! Are you having both rebuilt?

That's awesome that you caught it in time. I tell my customers to keep their ears tuned to their vehicle. It will save them money in the long term. Keep us posted

Both heads will be removed, just the left is being replaced, but both heads are getting bulletproofed. Taking out the cap bolts and putting in REAL head studs. I'm in there, might as well do it.

It’s always nice to find the smoking gun. Post more of those cab off pics from other angles if you can.

As requested another picture of the cab coming off.
I did takea close up pictures of the valve that is cracked also noticed on cylinder number 6 the same thing was starting to happen I really think this thing was probably ready to let loose and destroy my engine

Does anybody have any ideas what might cause this you can see it starting to do it on one of the valves and Cylinder 6. All of this is on the left head

I think that would have to have been a manufacturing defect. Maybe the metallurgy was off during production. Does anyone know the specific failure that caused dropped valves on the early 11’s? It could be the same root cause.

It is my understanding that there was a casting change in the heads built sometime after 2011. You might want to research this and possibly change both heads.
