I have a 1988 Ford F150 that is not getting spark.

Most likely it is the ignition module on the side of the distributor. You need a special tool, a sort of skinny nose socket, to remove and reinstall the ignition module.
Have you checked to make sure you have power going to one of the small terminals on the coil with the ignition switch turned on?

Its an 88 4x4 manual transmission. I have tesetd the wires and terminals on both distributor and ignition coil both have power running to them I get no test light reaction out of my ignition coil though even though it has power running to it it doesn't put any out what could be causing that

most of the chain type auto supplies can test the Ignition Module as well.
The PIP sensor replacement, requires disassembly of the distributor. IT is NOT like replacing a set of points.
Make sure you have plenty of good confirmed ground connections. Its my experience these trucks can be sensitive to grounding issues.
