ecoboost turbo, any issues?

so its time to upgrade. im on my third explorer, had a 2001 sport trac, 2008 mountaineer and a 2010. looking at a new explorer sport or platinum. I am very familiar with the old reliable 4.0, these new ecoboost turbo engines scare me a bit. I have heard of turbo failures in the F-150's at around 100,000 miles. I keep my vehicles beyond this so I am wondering if this is an issue that I need to worry about. thanks.

I have a 2016 Sport and love it. No issues yet with the turbos. I bought the extended factory warranty, i'm sure I will recoup it in repairs over time.

This forum is not very active on the explorers. There is another "explorer forum" website that is more active for the explorers, just google for it.

We have about 110K on our 13 sport and the engine has been perfect...

Maybe because it's the wife's DD and she has a tendency to GO

You can get the N/A 3.5 in the Explorer. No need to go to the Sport, unless that’s what you want.

The trans paired with the 2.0 ecoboost is junk. I would get the 3.5 NA and call it a day.

ended up buying a 2018 sport with the ecoboost. bought the extended powertrain warranty, 10/120,000 so should be covered.
