Oil leak in the front

This is a steady drip while parked and increases to a spray when driving. I cleaned up the fittings at the bottom of the transmission cooler to check for leaks and took these pics. Is that connection to the transmission cooler always that way - pieces of tubing patched together? Should I be replacing that whole tubing coming from the cooler? What else to look for?

That is in the area of the front spring eye bolts. You sure your mechanic didn't do that and not tell you about it?

why did they use soft copper and not a proper brass elbow or just no splice at all?

Good catch. I will take it back to him this morning and ask this question. I remember that it was a new hose that came along with the new transmission cooler that went into the EX a couple of months ago.

Looks like someone added a 6.0 cooler and used 3/8 copper line to 1/2 rubber.

You need 1/2 line from the cooler, then a 3/8-1/2 barb adapter to connect to the OEM cooler line

Also you might want to hunt down the other joint for the cooler as its probably the same rig.

PS: If that is how your mechanic does work, you might want to find another. Did you know that that leak can cause a fire. ATF burns real well at 70 MPH

I had the 7.3 cooler replaced with a 6.0 cooler a couple of months ago. As I have mentioned in my other thread for the suspension upgrades, this was a bad choice of mechanic. I am going there now to confront him with all these issues. I think it is time for me to seriously start building out an area at home where I can work on the EX.

Thanks to everyone on the FTE for pointing these out and enabling us !
