GCWR 94 F350 7.5L 4x4 4.10

Hi Everyone!

We recently purchased a 1994 F350 XLT 4x4 7.5l (gasser) 4.10 axle ratio. The truck did not come with an owners manual. Does anyone have one handy? I need the GCWR for the truck so I can calculate how much trailer we can tow to make sure we don't exceed GCWR. Per the silver sticker on the inside of the door the GVWR is 9200#. A few posts I have found state that GCWR is 16000#. This concerns me a little because that means I only have the capability of towing 6800#??? I plan on going to the scales once we get the truck back from the shop to check our weight when full of fluid and two people.
PS Towing capacity of 10000# is irrelevant when it comes to towing. Gotta look at your Payload, GCWR, GVWR and GAWR!

Thanks!

I don't know what the '94 GCWR is. In '97 the GCWR of a 460 with 4.10 gears was 16,000 with a manual trans and 18,500 with an automatic. Hopefully someone with a '94 will chime in though.

But as you allude to, towing capacity is GCWR - loaded truck weight, not GCWR -loaded truck weight RATING. If the GCWR is 16K and the truck is loaded to the GVWR then the tow rating is 6800 lbs. But if the truck is empty (~6000 lbs?) then the tow rating is ~10K. And of course the actual tow rating will be somewhere between there, depending on the actual load at the time.

Oh, and don't forget to factor in the tongue weight. That factors into both payload and trailer rating, so if you have 1000 lbs of tongue weight you are really limited to 8200 lbs truck and payload, but then can tow 7800 lbs with the truck maxed out.

Tongue weight doesn't effect GCWR, because that weight is included in the trailer weight. It is included in GVWR, because that weight is carried by the truck's axles.

The 96 and 97 version of the owner manual can be downloaded from https://owner.ford.com/content/ford-dot-com/en/tools/account/how-tos/owner-manuals.html. I use this version, because my 95 printing is missing the towing tables.

Max GCWR for manual transmission F350 is 16000lbs, and for automatic transmission it is 18500lbs. Max trailer weight is 10000lbs, and 12500lbs respectively.

I think we are trying to say the same thing.
