Need Help with wheel backspacing and tire size for my 66 F100

Happy Holidays Everyone.
My truck is a 66 F100 short box styleside, a mild custom.
Being that my truck is already in pieces and I know several of you are/have built customs; I hoped someone could help me out.
I am doing the axle over springs rear kit and the drop I-beams from Airbagit. I intend to keep shocks all the way around and would like to use 18x8 rims up front and 18x9 rims in the rear. Preferably I'd like to use a 235-40-18 tire in front and 275-40-18 in the rear. What backspacing have you found to be best and what tires do you guys like to run if for mostly just for summer use.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you

I suggest you get in touch with gangster. He has one of the nicest customs I've seen. I'm sure he will chime in shortly but there is nothing like a one on one. The extent of the custom depends on how deep that pocket is.

On my '66 Short bed currently have 15 x 10 in rear 15 x 8 in front.

I am going to use a 18 x 10 in rear and a 18 x 8 in front.

The tires will be 285/40 x 18 rear and 245/45 x 18 front

I can check the backspacing as the rears fit perfect.

Thanks Boss9F100.
My wheel choice is not available in a 18x10. When I measured the distance between the inner wheel house and the bed lip I had 12.5 inches. I figure an 11 inch tire would be ok with the flex though turns and such. I would like to know what your backspacing is if you can get it.

I posted above the tire sizes.

Brand type is Continental Extreme Contact Sport's

I just finished all the measurements and ordered custom wheels for mine.

My wheel opening in rear is 13.5" wide.
There is 6.75" from wheel mounting surface to box lip on rear.

On front if stock drum brakes there is 5.5" from wheel mounting surface to fender lip. Add 2" if you have 1973-79 disc brakes.

That should give you info to properly space wheel/tire.

It really depends on where you want wheel to sit in wheel house/fender.

On my 1966 F250's I used 255/55R-18's front and rear.

If you are using a 9" wide wheel on rear then a 4.5" backspace should be good.

going to look? Closer to the fender or more recessed?
