Are leather seats required for the heated seats feature?

In the 2009-2014 model year, yes.
I'm not 100% sure on the current models. I think I recall seeing heated seats in the 2018 SuperDuty with Cloth.

No leather is not required. Just purchased a 2018 XLT. Comes with front heated seats in cloth. This is the 40/ console/40 buckets. Can’t say for sure if the front bench comes that way. You should be able to build a truck online and click in the info box while building to see the front heated seat info.
