88 f150 fuel leak /smell

So i have a 88 f150 and its driving me crazy there is no leaks i can find anywhere but im getting a constant gas smell when useing my front tank and my rear tank is getting horrible gas mileage like 5 mpg but no leaks where would ypu recommend i start looking should i pull the bed off

Your purge valve, near the pcv valve, should have a hose running to your charcoal canister. Check and make sure it is hooked up and check it for cracks.
