Bent distributor shaft anyone?

***** Update *****
I was referred to guy here on the west side of Phoenix who was described as a "guru". Turns out that is true, Bob Ream figured it out.
Long story short.....
The rotor and cap provided by Dennis Carpenter did not fit each other.
My rotor was 15 thousands to long. Dennis sells Bendix rotors but I also tried a NAPA rotor and it was too big also.
After some research Bob found that a Borg Warner rotor was the perfect fit inside the cap.
I reinstalled the distributor and SweetPea runs like a Swiss watch.
If anybody needs fuel injection work in Phoenix, I recommend Bob Ream. He has a company called Imagine Injection, inc. Although this was not an injection issue, he figured it right out. He is a guru in my mind!
On a final note, I do have the correct timing cover for the particular distributor I am using. (whew)
Thanks to all for your help and suggestions, it is appreciated!

Hey Dan,
I was really hoping it was something easy to fix. You spent a lot of
money redoing your engine...put it all back together ... runs great & then bang.
That can be pretty frustrating. Good job fully investigating it & getting to the bottom
of it. I would have thrown something at the wall...very unproductive. I like your approach better.
