1997 Exp transfer case help
I've tried searching and haven't found anything concrete yet, does anyone know if the BW4406 is the only transfer case used in the 97's for sure? I think it is but I want to make sure since mine puked its insides all over the road yesterday. I cant complain, its right at 280k miles and its a good running and driving truck still, or at least it was until last night.
I thought I had read somewhere that there were two different transfer cases used in 97 but now I can't find anything definitive....I'm hoping someone can help me out just so I know for sure.
It's a 1997 XLT with a 5.4, electronic shift transfer case which I think they all were...Thanks in advance for any help! With both my trucks down right now my only other vehicle is a 2008 mustang GT convertible...not exactly prime winter transportation in northern Illinois....

Yes, the transfer case is the main problem.I have a 1998 Exp with 5L engine 4WDA and one day we have found my truck down the street (40 yards) away .
I contacted JASPER supplier and got a OVH case, changed my self, it works .That happened at 160 K, now I have a 330K and changed oil once since , still working good.
