Frame width?

I'm having a hard time finding a class 3 hitch kit for my f150 reg cab, 4x4, long box. All the kits are 34" wide. I can't get near the truck to measure but it know it's wider. Anyone know that number?

If you open the pdf in this thread, it says 35.5 inches from hole to hole on the back side. I bet 34" would work if their frame brackets turn to the inside.

82 f150 4x4 reg cab long box frame width is 37.25"

I ended up crawling through the snow and under the back of the truck just now. It's 37.25" outside to outside.

I know the 34" hitch doesn't work because when I held it up to the frame it complete fit between the frame rails.... Way off.

You can do that; use the Advanced Mode editor.

I am curious how wide the cross square tubing piece is on that hitch above.

Just in case someone needs this info, I had a bolt together hitch like the above on my 1980 f150(I did not have the adjustable cross-piece though). The 1980 went down and at that time I had a 53 f100 I put on the road. I needed to tow a car home for the engine so I could put it in the f150. I took the hitch off the f150, turned the outside frame brackets around so the ears pointed inward, and it fit perfectly on the old 53 frame so I could pull the car home.

Thanks for that.

Are you sure?? Lordco said that part number was 35". Did you have to modify anything (other than drilling frame).

Thanks again!

Next time I am out in the garage and I remember I will measure it.
When I found on line the install papers my truck was 1 of many fords along with the other makes.

I don't remember off the top of my head but if I had to drill any holes & think it was only 2.
Well looked up my post and it was 4 - 1/2" holes I had to drill but was not bad as I have the bed off.

I remember drilling some holes also. I believe I got a large drill and then sat it on top of a floor jack and used that to push it up through the frame. I do remember having to get gloves, the hot metal filings do no good to your bare hands holding the drill below.

Ok I think I got what you asked for.
From flange to flange where the square tube is was 31.5"
That is straight across the square and not with the bow.
Is that what you wanted. If not when I get back out again (hope this weekend if I don't have work) I can get them.

Curt part# 13310 fits my 82 f150 reg cab 4x4 long box

Curt PN# 13310 fit. I wish Curt would've just shown the dimensions in the specs. Could have saved us a lot of BS.
