yardbird is starting off with a positive reputation.
I owned a VT-903, which is what the truck in the picture would have in it. Mine had been built to run, turned over 3000, and would out do the engine of the day, a 360, 3406-A Cat.

They get great fuel mileage for an engine of that year. Not what today's engines do, but 5.5-6.3 compared to the usual 4-4.5 back then.

A VT-903, loaded, with it turning around 2400-2500 going down the road, is a sound that is music to your ears.

They leak oil some, and do need some extra attention, but I like them. EPA regs is what did them in, that and the physical size of the engines under a cab or hood.
