It shouldn't be too hard to fab some new motor mounts for the 302. Or find a truck in a junk yard and cut them off to weld onto your frame.

On the 5.4L, I had one in my '08 F-250. I know people like them, but it was the 2nd or 3rd worst feature of the truck in my opinion (worst was the ZF6 manual trans, but at least that was so bad that I could file a lemon-law claim and Ford bought the truck back from me). It made great power above 3000 rpm, but it couldn't get out of its own way below that. And the mileage wasn't bad, but not good enough to make me at all willing to live with the power band (average of 12.6 mpg in a crew cab short box, with 55 mph highway highs around 14 mpg). I could see it being a good engine in a hot rod, but especially considering the much bigger task to force it into an old Ford, I'd go with a 351. Or if you really want a "modern" engine, an LS (shudder!). Yes it's a Ch*vy, but that also means there's tons of aftermarket support for swapping it.

Yeah, motor mounts are the least of your worries. Did you check out how your right valve cover and the heater box both need the same space?

Get a new set of SBF perches from the JY and then put a 351 in it. Save yourself a huge hassle, since if you're asking how to make motor perches, I can only guess you don't have the mad skills to deal with intensive conversion wiring and troubleshooting issues relating to making all these new controllers work together.

Sorry to sound critical but I hate to see another OBS truck go to the scrappers after a failed swap.
what does SBF mean?

Does anyone know where to buy engine mount perches besides a junk yard. Because taking the original ones off are not easy. Thanks

Well, since you have seen the error of your ways, there is no point beating that horse anymore.

Yes, you have started an expensive project, only three things you can do. Forge ahead and don't forget to bring you checkbook. Anything can be done, but there will be obstacles.

Other option is to backtrack. Brackets can be found, check the junkyards. By the way, SBF refers to small block Ford.

Last option is abandon ship, but that also means a trip to the scrap heap for your truck.

Best of luck, it's your call.

Small Block Ford. Generally a 302 or a 351W (or any of the earlier smaller versions)

Interesting thread over in the bullnose forum.

Very similar truck, but a very well thought out and likely heavily funded project.
