Cannot get any real time data pulled from the truck

Hi, I have an early 99 7.3 all stock and I'm trying to get real time data reads from the engine sensors while the engine is running. The actron reader I have reads all abs and engine codes that are generated but will not do any real time reading Except map sensor, speed, rpm. Should I be able to see more? During the download it's telling me no response from the ECM. Any specialist knowledge of this would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks Mark

7.3L SuperDuty trucks are not actually OBD2. Its a sort-of half-way partial implementation. Because of the weight class of the truck, and the service classification of the motor ( medium duty commercial engine), they were not required to meet OBD2 standards, unlike most other passenger vehicles beginning in 1996.
Because of this, most code readers and basic consumer level scanners simply won;t read the ecm/data properly on these trucks. You'll need a professional scanner, such as a Snap-On, etc.. Alternatively, you can use a computer program such as Forscan, or an Android app ( like TorquePro) in conjunction with a wifi or Bluetooth "dongle" on obd port.
Search on here for the TorquePro FAQ for more details.

Thanks for the reply. The scanner I am using is the Actron CP9695 professional. I can do the injector buzz, glow plug test and other KOEO and KOER testS. All which work on this truck with this scanner. I think the scanner I'm using should read the data I am looking for. I'm thinking a wire or a pcm? Does the truck even have the capability to show realtime data?

The truck is certainly capable of returning real time sensor data, with a compatible scan tool.

I googled the Actron you mentioned. I don't think it will work. Try going to a shop and see if they can read the data with their scanner. If so, then you know the problem is the Actron.

I think you’re right about the scanner. Do you know of any info on how and what to purchase for the FORScan? I was on the website and it seems there is fake ones out there and I do not want to get one of those, also looking for instructions on how to get it running. I will look up the torque pro but I do not have anything android, just windows and Apple. Thanks Mark

With Apple products you'll need a WiFi adapter, I got a VeePeak basic adapter off of Amazon for something like $15.
ForScan is available in the app store for around $5.00. I can connect my Windohs laptop to the WIFI adapter but have been unable to figure out what ForScan version to go with for that. I would expect an iPhone to be kind of small to read, I have an iPad that iUse.

Will this let me see sensor dada read by the PCM? I just need it to use it for trouble shooting sensors.

Yep, it reads sensors and probably more stuff than I know about. It will tell you about your PCM year and strategy,
etc

Awesome, thanks Hunter. Sorry to keep bugging you but is there a certain Veepeak adapter that needs to be bought? Found three of them on Amazon. Also is it plug and play? Download the ForScan app and it will see this adapter? sorry for all the questions but very clueless on this. Thanks
