1997 Ford f250HD 5.8L XLT No Spark!

Intermittently my truck would just die and a few minutes later it would start, until last Tuesday it died and would not restart! I've changed the coil which does have 12 volts going to it and also change the distributor, still no spark!
I unplugged the PCM and I had spark! So after following all the post on here, I am led to believe my PCM is toast! My question is if I buy a new remanufactured from O'Reillys which one do I buy and is it plug and play or does the new pcm have to be reprogrammed?
Thank you for your help!

Before you go and spend money; try to actually troubleshoot the problem, and check for codes.

It would be plug and play if it is OBD1.
If you have a California truck with OBD2 then it may not be.

But before you change it out make sure you have power going to it and it has a good ground.

Yes it's obd1, how would I check for power going to the PCM? If no power would you know a place I can buy a reliable pcm from?

Check for power on the red wire at any injector. The red wire has power then more than likely the PCM has power or you have bad wiring, not likely.

Ah, yes, we almost always over complicate things in our mind instead of checking the simple things like grounds. I have seen guys labor for days, weeks on a no start or poor running engine only to find a bad ground. When I first went to school on the first computer engine management systems they taught is that grounds and connections are always the first things you check.

A ground to the frame has nothing to do with the engine running or spark.
Unless you pull a trailer you do not even have to ground the frame.
You more than likely still have the problem.
