Have 2011 F350 with 6.7. When towing my tandem dual trailer with about 9000 lbs on it my truck derates or looses power. I pull over turn key off and is fine for 10 miles or so then does it again. Unhook trailer and everything is fine. Throws a code P1249. This happened 2 years ago 1 time and never did it again.

 

That code indicates an overboost in the turbo. Are you running a tune?

As I recall, Painted Horse had a similar issue. He cleared the code to get back on the road, then his dealer did a reflash to correct the issue.

 

Mine was on a 2015 truck. Had a Turbo Overboost code

Took it in and dealer had a reflash that was supposed to fix it.

Don't know any more details than I never had a second occurance
