Looking at a new truck, pros and cons of the 6.2 please?
I have a 2001 f350 DRW with the v10, I would prefer to find another DRW with the V10, 2009 or 2010 but that is proving EXTREMELY difficult as my wish list is particular. So I have coerced myself into looking into a 2012 with a 6.2, I do not want a diesel. What are the pros and cons of the 6.2? My 01 has 4.30's but other than that bone stock. How does the 6.2 compare with the old 2v V10? Any insight would be great. I pull my boat occasionally and haul racing engines on a pallet to the local shipping terminal once a week.

Tow a 32' Jayco with my 2016. No problems from towing in the Midwest to SC. Have not towed in the mountains yet. Also tow a 6x10 10k dump trailer. Only towed the Jayco 1 time to the Corvette museum with my 2000 V10, F250, 3.73, manual tranny. Although the 2016 tows fine and I really do not have any complaints, I still prefer the V10 and would have ordered it in a heartbeat. Still prefer the better low end torque, lower rpm's and wish Ford would have offered it in the F350s also. Note that I ordered my 2000 and 2016. All said you should not be disappointed if you find one set up the way you want. Most of my driving is daily driver to work, 80% interstate. Have about 40k on the truck. Only complaint is it is so reliable that I am forced to do more on the honey do list!
Not sure how heavy you tow, but from your post, would a single rear wheel do?

I have to have a dually, thats mandatory on my list, which kills 90% of the available trucks. I can find just about any srw I could ever want within 2 miles of my house. The problem is my first truck was my 01 dually and when it snows here in chicago, its the greatest thing since sliced bread. I drove from chicago to syracuse and bought my boat. Running down the highway with a 33 foot boat behind the dually at 80mph not even knowing it was back there convinced me the dually is the only way to go. Thus narrowing my available trucks to a very small amount. Which is why I feel I am forced to open up my options to the 6.2.

the only cons that I have found with the 6.2 is tune ups are not the most fun thing. 16 spark plugs are a pain in the ***. we have 8 6.2 l and 3 remaining 6.8 l left here at work. when the guys try and do a tune up in the field, I have found that they only change the top side 8 spark plugs. most don't even realize there is 16 plugs on a 6.2

It will do pretty much everything your v10 did, probably about the same pace just revs more. The. Diesels definitely has more power. Having owned a 6.2 and now a 6.7, I will say the obvious, the gas engine is cheaper to maintain. Mileage is better with the diesel but overall I spend the same amount of money due to diesel being more expensive. The 6.2 was by far more reliable. I had no complaints about that engine. It makes decent power but it does like to review and when it does it gets a little thirsty
