Looking for a little assistance. I have a 94 E4OD that will not make the 2-3 shift unless I unplug the solenoid pack. Of course then being in limo mode I must start out in manual 2nd gear but then it will then make the 2-3-OD shifts normally. Could it be the solenoid pack gone bad?

 

Any codes? I'd check the harness out before dropping the pan.

 

It's impossible for an E4OD to be in third gear with the solenoid body unplugged. All that is available with the solenoid body unplugged is second and fourth gears.

The first step is to see if any codes are stored. You would have stored codes when you unplugged the solenoid body, so try this. Read and record the codes. Then clear all codes. You can do this by disconnecting the batteries, or even easier, unplug the tester while it is outputting codes. Then drive it with the solenoid body connected and read the codes again. What codes came back?
