Don't do it man. DC is all leftists who are more enlightened and smarter than you. They hate pick up truck owners and anyone who doesn't fall in line behind them more than ISIS. You will be the enemy and they will turn belligerent and violent and run you out of town. Get a daily to get in and out of that horrible place. I'm not kidding about any of this. Cool restaurants and unique vibe but the group-think attitude and status seekers ruined the place.

I wouldn't want to drive a DRW in a city-- especially an old city with small roads and tight turning radiuses here and there. That being said, I've driven full size CC 8' bed trucks (SRW) in NYC, Boston, other similar cities. They are great to drive- plenty of height to see things, cabs give way, never lose a merge battle. But parking? Well-- that can be a challenge. Garages might not be tall enough and your parallel parking skills have to be on point.

I've had a DRW as my daily for almost 22 years. I live in the Jersey burbs of NYC (Bergen County most of my life, Morris County the last 15 years). I've never had an issue driving on the more narrow streets/roads/highways here. The only issue I've had is parking - industry-standard parking spaces are 19 x 8 feet, my 05 Ram is 21 x 8, and the mirrors project a little more than the DRW fenders. Thus, I tend to park a little further away from the store or business in parking lots (the extra walking is good exercise - bonus!), and I never hesitate in any weather to open my window and look as I'm parking to be siure I'm as centered as possible... and I will get back in to restraighten if I'm a little off, just as a courtesy to someone who may park next to me.

Tip to keep in mind... if a garbage truck can navigate the street, so can your dually.
