6.0 Powerstroke DIY water meth kit questions.

So I have a few hundred dollars burning a hole in my pocket and I decided after looking at injection kits I could probably build my own. I know this has been done by a ton of people and I have read everything I can about building my own but it stills leaves me a few questions. First, all the big name kits I see have pumps that are anywhere from 150-300 PSI yet all their nozzles show test numbers like 40-100 PSI. Why would I need to buy such a high PSI pump if it will only be working from like 40-70 or so? Second, what size nozzle do I need? They all show flow rate and everything but how do I know which I need? All hell is greatly appreciated.

I put a water meth system on my 6.8 gas motor.

I have never put one on a diesel, but typically you want high pressures so the meth and water will form smaller droplets that will allow better cooling.

As for pressures.....as flow increases the pressure drops. IE if a pump can pump 1 gph at 250 psi that same pump may only be able to pump at 100 psi if it were hooked to a 2 gph nozzle. If I could get a 1000 psi pump at a reasonable cost I would do that.

my 6.8L gasser uses ALOT of water meth when on.
3 nozzles, 2 of which are the largest aquamist sells. But I'm cooling a TS supercharger.

If I were to do it again I would use these guys. They seem to know the ins and outs.

don't scrimp on the pump.....it's the heart of system and the higher it's pressure the better the system.

the pump is controlled by the controller electronics to vary the flow rate based on boost.

for a 6.0 , if you had something like an A.E.M. controller, you would need a 650ML nozzle.

I would be concerned with a DIY setup...you could hydro lock your motor if too much flow occurs at low RPMs.

my A.E.M kit is basic and cost me around 500 bucks. it uses a hose connected to the intercooler collar just before the engine intake. the hose senses the boost pressure .

fancier kits can monitor EGT's and use that to make injection decisions.
