CD Player keeps flashing "NO DISK" every 3 sec with key off
My dad needed an extra vehicle and he wanted a truck. 3 years ago I helped him find a 2008 4x2 F-150, regular cab STX 122" WB, 4.6 triton V8 with 105,000 miles. It has been a good vehicle up until recently. Now, at 120,000 miles, the transmission cooling lines leaked out the trans fluid; my dad drove about 2 miles with the "trans fault" message up before getting home. He had it towed to a transmission shop. They said the transmission needed rebuilt as there was internal damage. They put in a $2,500 rebuilt transmission with a 2 year warranty. The new transmission runs perfectly.
None of that likely has anything to do with this problem, but the problem occurred right after the truck returned from the transmission shop; probably coincidence. But, ever since the truck has been home, the CD player flashes "NO DISK" every 3 or so seconds even with the key off and out of the truck. This eventually killed the battery. The stereo can be shut off by pressing the power button with the key out while it's flashing and it does shut off and not kill the battery.
My dad can't remember if he had a disk in there before it went to the shop. If a disk were stuck in there, would this kind of thing happen? That is to say, will the stereo try to fool with ejecting a disc if it's stuck even with the key off? Has anyone ever dealt with this before?
Thanks in advance for any help you may have.
