Help me decide on a truck
#16
Well I'm officially a Ford guy now, and very much loving my first F150. Thanks for all the help guys, I'm very happy with your advice and glad I asked here.
I ended up getting a 2011 with 5.0. 1 owner truck, well taken care of, all of the options I wanted, and none I didn't care for (except for adjustable pedals I suppose). It's a little higher mileage at 132,000 miles, but I'm confident there's plenty of life left in her. I officially got it today, and tomorrow my 6 year old daughter, and her 2 neighbour friends want to go for a drive in the truck, and get breakfast. I certainly don't mind any excuse to drive the truck

I've learned through my own research that you never really know what you're getting in a used truck. In my case, I decided on a higher mileage truck with an extensive and complete service record. Looks like you got yourself into the same situation. Hope the truck treats you well! I've had pretty good luck with my 2010.

Thanks guys. I'm really liking the truck so far. I have to learn about It, but it's fun.
That ended up being my thought process as well. I looked at one 2015 and two 2014s. They were lower millage, but more money, fewer options, and one of them was never rust proofed. I thought for the money I saved, I can afford a few more repairs with this older truck. This truck had 1 owner, came with brand pads and rotors all around, and 4 brand new tires. Seeing how I have a company vehicle for my daily driving, and this truck is a weekend warrior, I'm hopeful to get a few good years out of it.
I've only had it for a couple of days, and looking around the engine bay, it seems like most things are accessible and easy enough to work on. Although I'm surprised that I need a step stool just to pull the dip stick out. And I'm 6'1".

Thanks guys. She's a hit with my 6 year old daughter and her friends. We spent yesterday picking up her friends and looking for excuses to drive around. I rolled down the window a few times and floored it for them. The sound of the V8 and acceleration put big smiles on their faces

Because the two countries are so we'll connected its not a big hassle.
Remeber from a lot of the USA Canada is closer than most of the rest of the USA.

Nothing complicated, it's all driven by the currency exchange rate. Back when the Canadian dollar was at 1:1 with US we were importing US trucks north.

Apparently there's also something against importing/exporting a brand new truck, until it's 6 months old, or so many miles on it. And rumor was a lot of the rental places were discounting their rental rates to encourage renting, until the vehicles were ready to be shipped to the US, instead of selling them here. So the story went anyways.

A dealership here was doing six month leases on loaded crew cab diesels at a ridiculous price for a while. They were very open that they were doing completely to create used trucks to export.
Guy who bought my 2012 ecoboost in fall of 2015 was an exporter. He was a small operation and sending a few loads a month south.
Canadian currency is getting stronger so this isn't as profitable as it used to be.
