Watch this Ford TV commercial to see the New Driverized Cab with the Three Man Seat. you'll see it at about 48 seconds.

Looked out of place so I used a stock seat.
Oh? I have a really nice original seat, given to me by a local truck buddy. It already has been reupholstered. Maybe I should just stick with that?
I was concerned about the bouncy spring type ride. Maybe I need to go down to the basement and actually sit on it....and see what it feels like....ugh...

Or this one at about 40 seconds the narrator mentions teh Three Man Wide Seat.

This one is a 1954 model with the new breathable woven vinyl seat.

Or this one at 26 seconds for a 53.

They are cool, aren't they! And for a stock guy like me, especially. I just wish they were in color. I do have some color filmstrips that were training films for dealer salesmen that show the trucks as they were new. I'll have to dig them out. I haven't seen them in a while.

Just go to you tube and look for them. I don't know how many 48 to 52 there are however. There are more 53 to 56 videos.

I prefer the look of the original seats, but my grandkids would not be able to go for a ride with me if I didn't have the seat/shoulder belts and I didn't want to weld new brackets in the cab. This seat serves the purpose for now while I still have the option of putting in the original seat later.

The width of my stock seats (panel truck) cushion edge to cushion edge at the widest point is about 48 inches. I have a 52 F1.

Jeff, the stock seat, while not body contoured has a lot more support/give than those newer seats IMO. Those 3rd row seats are for kids and occasional passengers, not for driver comfort. If you flip one over you will see very few springs and a lot of foam. Again JMO.

I'm struggling with the same thing... the stock seat is like a second suspension compared to a new seat and I didn't do ifs... I do like 60/40 benches and the 3rd row seats but may end up paying the upholstery shop to improve and recover the factory bench with some contour.
Im guessing these are custom?

Let us know how it works out please

Never thought about that, good point. Still gonna check this out though.
I found another just like it, on CL same seat, color, from an '04 Asking $60 but it's 1.5 hrs away. I sent the local guy the ad and said if he would match the price. I would come see it. He agreed, said he is tired of it being in the way and needs the money...so....I'm at least gonna go check it out. I have spent more on dinner a time or two. (Big Family)

So I bought the third row '03 Suburban seat for $60. And put it in for fit.
I don't think the fit is too bad. Maybe a touch narrow, but not much. I like it then I am not sure...I will not decide for now, but I have options. I will get the original seat out of the basement and just try them on like a pair of shoes.
Let the truck speak it's mind. The guy also gave me a super nice set of bucket seats. Gray leather middle row captain chairs from a 2002 Olds Silhouette Mini Van. I thought they would be a good possibility, but the butt portion of the seat is too long for me. Knees too close to the dash.

Heck, for $60, even if you don't use it in the truck, it'll make a great shop couch. Now if you had a flat screen, WiFi, and a fridge.........

That's how I see it! Spent more on dinner before (with adult kids now..)
No room for a Fridge and TV. Only room for another old Ford!
