Oil leaking from dip stick hole

So every time the truck gets heated, small amounts of oil seems to leak out. Doesn’t seem like the dipstick is on very tight. Is there suppose to be a tube that drops down in there that would snug it up, or maybe something near the cap of the dipstick that would prevent it from leaking out? I haven’t been able to find a new dipstick or tube for a 55 f100. Many sites seem to have it for other years, but not a 55. Is that leakage normal? Thanks

No o-ring unless the F100 has Ford-O-Matic, then there's one (87034-S94 ~ 1/2" I.D.) on the F-O-M's dipstick tube.

It’s the stock 223 6. I don’t believe the cap is vented. Let me get a pic.

That motor should have vent tube on it to vent the crankcase..

These are the only pics I can find. Currently at wrk. Looks like original cap? I did have an issue with gas in the oil, so I changed out the fuel pump

It appears you have a vented cap and a draft tube either of which should relieve engine pressure .

The draft tube on my 215 was sludged shut in the block. Is the oil level too high from gas in the oil again?

How full is the engine oil? Did youniverfill it and the crank is running in it?

what oil are you running? Is it detergent based?

Thanks for the links, I called the first number and they wanted about $130 for the dipstick. I don’t want to spend that, unless I really need to. I’ll keep trying to trouble shoot it before making the purchase. Thanks

I’ll check when I get home, but I think I put in the amount that my manual stated it required. I think 5 quarts. I just changed the oil. As far as detergent based, I’ll have to look when I get back. I used the oil that the guy at Napa recommended, but maybe it was the wrong stuff, although it was leaking out before I changed the oil.

If it were me, I think I'd try to DIY a rubber seal at the top of the dipstick tube, say, a fat O-ring that would hold tight to the stick and fit the inside of the tube. Or, there are all kinds of plugs, grommets that might work or be adapted. If it still leaks after you've got a good seal at the top of the tube with the stick in place, seems like crankcase pressure is indicated (?) even though it looks like you've got ample venting, unless there are clogs.
