How to access GPR on 2003 E350 7.3L

I posted this over in the 7.3 diesel section. No replies. Figured I'd try over in this section of the forum.

I'm a total noob on the E-Series 7.3. Having cold start issues and need to access the gpr.

Once I removed the air filter assembly and doghouse on the Van I was stumped.

I'm sure there is a proper order of which hose clamps to loosen first and which parts of the intake assembly to move first.

Also wondering how to get that resonator box out.

I've bought a full shop service manual today for the 2003 E-Series but it won't be here by the weekend.

Any help would be appreciated.

A diesel in a van would stump a lot of guys in 7.3 forums---they'd swear Ford only makes F-Series!

Sorry for my ignorance but what is this GPR you mention? I have a 2003 WSM on disc I can check out and perhaps email the parts relating to whatever you're trying to accomplish. If you can PM me please do so---I'd like to help sooner rather than later, not always here on a dependable schedule.

JWA. Tried sending a PM and it said that you can't receive them. I could send an email if you like.

The GPR is the Glow Plug relay. It's by the passenger side valve cover. There is an Air Intake heater Relay in front of the GPR closer to the front of the engine. The AIH sits right behind the alternator and the GPR sits right behind the AIH IIRC.

Above the 2 relays is the resonator box. Right down the middle of the engine is the air intake hose to the turbo.

There are a bunch of hose clamps connecting to turbo, resonator box and the CCV tube as well.

I didn't want to take them off in the wrong order.

It's pretty tight and didn't want to break anything.

My bad about PM's here--forgot I have that disabled except for those on my own contact list. You're welcome to email me but I'll add you to my Contacts list right now---that'll make it easier.

Re: the Glow Plug Relay---I'll dig into my 2003 CD-ROM and see what it says. I'm thinking I might be able to copy & paste the text of that procedure into something I can send quickly. I will be a bit later today though---hope you can hang for a few hours.

I found what you need---all five sections saved in PDF and ready to send via email when we connect.

Oddly enough I can almost never find my own stuff this easily!

Thanks for the quick responses today.

I'll try to document my work this weekend with pics and maybe video.

Seems the tech posts for 7.3 vans are few and far in-between.
