jones aeroturbine xl muffler

Greetings to all and happy New Year. I have been lurking around this site for quite some time now. Learned alot about my 7.3 thru the wealth of knowledge here. Thank you all for sharing. So long story short I am wondering if anyone in the San Antonio Tx area is running the jones or aeroturbine resonated muffler? I would like to hear it in person before spending money. I replaced stock muffler with walker big truck some time ago--- the sound is terrible. Thanks

Welcome to FTE ...

The question is going to be asked so I'll just throw it out there. What type of sound are you looking for? You didn't like stock or the replacement. Also what year is the truck and type of exhaust system, stock or aftermarket?

Yes, welcome to FTE!

Can you confirm, then, that your current exhaust pipe is stock size? If so, bumping to a 4" would get you more throatiness without a doubt.

Yes I'm running stock exhaust with Walker BTM (21470) I believe was the number. Truck is '01. I mainly use it for pulling 5th wheel. The walker muffler has a helicopter whirrly blatty sound. Thinking about Diamond Eye 4" system with aeroturbine muffler.Have read some good reviews on aeroturbine, but I also read good reviews on walker. Not looking for loud, but nice deep throaty sound.

I have one on my 7.3 and I like how well it works and sounds. I always get compliments on how my exhaust sounds. I've had it since 2005.

Thanks for all responses. Robert 6401. you might check Amazon , I think they have it.
Toreador Diesel thanks for the info, I was hoping to find someone in San Antonio that had it on they're truck to hear in person. No such luck, so I went ahead and ordered Diamond Eye system with they're muffler. Here's praying it will sound good without being too loud.

In this amazing world of tech we live in, COULD post a video to Youtube or even text it to you.

Fair warning on the Diamond eye systems...they're "fun" to install sometimes depending on what kit you guy.

toreador did you just change the muffler, or upgrade to larger pipes as well?

Started by swapping in place, then went to bigger pipes.

I recently went from a straight pipe stock 3.5" to adding a Jones XL3535 resonator muffler, I could send audio of it if that would help... I should mention I put it on to quiet down the truck on the highway, reduce the drone in the cab and it worked great. Lost my turbo whistle the 13yr old in me loved though. I do like the sound of this exhaust now, it is throatier than it was straight piped.

did you notice a significant difference with just the muffler? I was thinking of getting the 4" inlet/outlet jones turbine and trying to find reducers for my 3 1/2 pipes until I upgrade the pipes. You think that is worth it or am I wasting my time?

thanks gomer, was it worth putting the Jones muffler on for any performance reasons or did it basically just take out the Drone?

That's exactly how I did it.

It's worth it if you plan on upgrading later like I did.

Toreador Diesel, might you explain "fun" problems that you know of. Reviews of basically all mfg's systems seem to have problems ,I think mainly downpipe fitment from what I've read. I ordered Diamond Eye K4318S which includes muffler, I got what I think is a good sale price from shipper.I have listeded to sound clips of both aero turbine muffler and Diamond Eye muffler, both sound pretty good, but real world listening is quite different. Appreciate all of your help.
