Oil leak question
Hello.
i have a 2010 f150 with the 4.6 V8
ive been chasing a oil leak for some time now.
ive cleaned it good and put the uv die and used a black light on it.
i was thinking the rear main seal or oil pan or the air intake but i cant see anything there.
the only place i see color from the uv die is on 2 lines running from the passenger side up towards the radiator.
i also noticed the front of my radiator is juicy.
could this be it? Do these notor motors have a oil cooled system that would run towards the radiator?

So let me get this straight; you put the dye into the engine oil and now you're seeing it on the transmission cooling lines to the radiator? Okay, now pull the transmission fluid dipstick and see if that lights up. The only way engine oil can get into the transmission is through a manifold vacuum line to the trans. The problem is, I don't know if Ford transmissions still have the Vacuum Modulator Valve with vacuum line to the engine like they used to, plus, typically if the VMV went bad, the engine would suck the trans oil in rather than the other way 'round..
That sort of leaves us with the engine oil getting on the trans cooling lines incidentally rather than leaking out of them. See if you can find how that happens. How much oil are you losing in a week? Or is it a slow leak where you might have to add a quart in a thousand miles?

Yes that is correct with the die and the cooling lines.
turns out trans oil by itself glows the same as my oil. I opened a fresh quart of trans oil to test it.
on another note i drove about 120 miles today and when i got home i was able track my oil leak to just above my starter on the passenger side. My oil pan was dry and my bell housing was dry for the most part. So im pretty certain its from up high on the back passenger side.
Also I was told 2 things today from some friends. They said Its either my head gasket or my intake leaking from the top.
do those options make sense?
