2018 Observations Good and Bad

The q7 is cheaper to start yes, but they in two different classes and therefore are sized completely different. A comparison btw a ford explorer, a vehicle with the same foot print and comparable interior space would be more fitting, and the explorer starts at 31k.
The qx80 does start at 65k but its a base model with no feature content. The armada itself starts at 47k, which is only 4k less than a comparable expy feature wise. My vehicle which also cost 66k has more features than an qx80 base. A fully loaded armada with some of the features mines has tops out at 66k. Seems comparable to me. The expy price is comparable to its competition, fully loaded armadas and sequoias top out at 67k, which is about 4k less than an expy with same features(4wd expy ltd with 302a and all options selected). If you get a plat model expy, your getting more than any other vehicle on ots class offers.

Sounds like someone is bitter because they can't afford a new Expedition.
The Expedition and Q7 are not competitors, the facts are:
2018 Audi Q7 starting price is right at $50K, that includes a 2L motor. I bet that would be fun to drive, LOL.
2018 Audi Q7 starting price with a 3L motor is $56k.
2018 Expedition XLT starts are $51.7k.
Expedition has +42HP and +145ft/lbs of torque than the Q7 3L. I won't even compare the 2L motor.
The regular length Expedition has +41% more space behind the 3rd row seats as the Q7, and +46% more total space.
The Expedition tows ~+3300lbs more than the Q7.
The Expedition's competitors are Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac. They are all priced similarly and can hit $80k MSRP with the Caddy being +~$20k.

We've had ours for almost a month now, Plat Max in "Metallic" dark grey, with the dark interior.
Absolutely love the vehicle, it lives up to it's expectations. We had started looking last year, drove the GMC yukon, sequoia, armada, escelade (almost got that one..), and the 2017 Exped. At the time, started researching remodels, as i really wanted ACC, and started hearing about the 2018, so our family has been waiting for basically a year for this girl to drop.
3 Kids, towing, and long trips to family (well.. 3 hours anyway..) Was specifically looking for comfortable 3rd row, which the Exped has, especially now with the recline option.
Vehicle handles beautifully, has an amazingly small turning radius considering it's size, and so far running around 16-18L/100 with mostly city driving, and lots of cold weather remote start idling time.
Love the app on the phone, with the ability to start the vehicle from anywhere (in our case, while inside hockey rink..) Lane keeping system is kinda cool, Adaptive cruise is probably the single biggest "wow this is awesome" feature so far.
Cons:
-Auto Start/Stop. OMG i hate this. Some people dont mind, some people will be for it, that's fine. I dont like the fact it's on by default after every start. let me turn it off and remember the setting, and it's fine, but no... and then i discovered ForScan, and suddenly this isn't such a big issue anymore
-Plat comes with 22" wheels. That's fine, but rubber is damned expensive, and they dont give the option to by default choose 20" with Plat. got a second set of 20" for the winter tires. still damned expensive, although i suppose i could have gone with 18"s
-Cost.

I have driven 400 miles so far and finally checked the dashboard mpg. Same type driving in my 2005 averaged 16.9 mpg and the 2018 only got 15.5 mpg. Maybe it will get better once it gets broken in. I always turn off the auto start feature as the one time I forgot, it restarted at a light at first I thought someone had bumped me from behind but there was no body back there.

Have gotten insane mileage by really trying.

Hi guys, glad I saw this thread. I've been looking online at the 2018 Expeditions and I was getting excited until I read that the body and a good chunk of the frame are aluminum. Then I read that the v6 is so puny sounding that ford has a fake engine sound when the truck is running. That sounds absolutely ridiculous. Please tell me none of that is true. Why on earth would you use tinfoil for a body and frame?

I hear a Troll.........
You are exactly correct, 400HP and a class leading 480 ft/lbs of torque (at a much lower RPM than the competition's NA motors) and class leading economy is puny.
There there are really no sounds inside or outside that would lead you to believe it's a V6 motor.
The frame is steel and much of the body is high quality aluminum to save hundreds of pounds. Why would the competition use 110 year old heavy stamped steel technology prone to rust? It's only a matter of time before the other auto manufacturers follow Ford and switch to aluminum and composite body panels.
The Expedition is clearly not for you, please consider purchasing something else.
